Collect race-based data

The collection of race-based data is greatly needed to ensure the creation and implementation of effective public policies.   Otherwise the systemic changes needed to address how indigenous, black and people of colour  (IBPOC) communities are made vulnerable in our society will never occur.  The current COVID-19 pandemic highlights how the importance of this.

For example we know the Filipino community in BC, and Canada, is hard-hit by the pandemic.  But until race-based data is collected – a genuine picture of this urgent problem remains invisible and subsequent efforts to address the problem fall short.

Beyond Representation calls for the collection of race-based disaggregated data that is used for the betterment, and not further oppression of IBPOC communities.
